| Sound of Hope Radio, NFP was founded in 2004 by a group of Chinese immigrants
in Greater Chicago who saw the need for overseas Chinese to reconnect with
their cultural roots as well as the importance of opening a bridge to further
cross-cultural understandings between the East and West.
Our program, "Speaking of Asia," features various topics in life, arts, culture, as well as talk shows that provide insights into Asian affairs. “Speaking of Asia” is broadcast on AM 1530 every Tuesday from 12pm to 1pm. As a public broadcasting-type of non-profit educational corporation, Sound of Hope Radio, NFP is designed to advocate democratic values in Asian communities via Radio programming, and to enhance understandings of Chinese culture and history to general Americans. We have been honored to host the Chinese New Year Spectacular in Chicago in 2006 and 2007. We are striving to make the Spectacular a tradition on Chicagoland. Proceeds from the ticket sale are used to further educational and other charitable purposes of Sound of Hope Radio, NFP. Our mission:

The Chinese New Year Spectacular is an important platform for celebrating the Chinese New Year and appreciating Chinese traditional culture and arts, featuring world-class performances of both Chinese and Western traditional artistry. The performances transport the audience back in time to ancient China - with colorful costumes, graceful dancing and booming drums, mixing high tech set design with ancient values, bringing myths and legends to life. We bring our audience the essence, the true spirit of the Chinese culture expressed in the forms of classical performing arts, giving people a deeper understanding and connection to the Chinese culture. |
